As with any new job, the first day is the most intimidating day ever.
I had been dreading this first day since I told my bosses I wanted to stay-at-home with Tom for a while.
It was scary to me.
Even though it was my choice.
I make scary choices.
So Monday began my new job as a stay-at-home mom.
I did some things right, I think.
And some things? Not so right.
Not right. Playing naked with a Santa hat. So not totally naked. But not totally right.
Not right. Annoying Huck with my high-pitched-for-kids voice ALL DAY LONG.
Other rights: Taught Tom to say “bird”, didn’t have a breakdown, got him to take a morning and afternoon nap, kept TV off and got some stuff done. Yay!
Other wrongs: He has no idea that “bird” means bird, I let him hold a glass ornament which he promptly threw on the floor and shattered (obviously), I took him outside in the cold without a jacket and without socks just to check the mail — but then talked to a neighbor for too long, have discovered that my son thinks “no” means “try again.”
I think that Monday was a great day.
And I think it was great because God didn’t want to scare the crap out of me on the first day.
Which was really nice.
(Thanks.)
Tom and I ended the day with some ball.
It was a happy Monday.
One day down. Infinity to go.
Congratulations on your first day on the hardest job you will ever have!!!
Sounds like a great day (mostly…ha!).
As far as first days go, this one sounds pretty good! And, you didn’t have to take a bunch of time to pick out your outfit, which for me is always the hardest part.
