I don’t really think he’ll have more Woodland-themed parties, but I didn’t know how else to title this blog. Plus, he’s always surprising me so maybe this will be EXACTLY what he wants for his 16th birthday bash! Bwahahahahahaha.
I was a little sick the morning of Tom’s 1st birthday, and then I realized it was nerves.
You must also know that I wasn’t sick on my wedding day, the day we bought our first house, or any of the days leading up to Tom’s birth. So the fact I was nervous over his 1st birthday party just proves what I’ve always suspected…
I am insane.
With that said, it was one of my favorite days ever!!
And it was a such a favorite, that I totally couldn’t narrow down this blog. If you are someone who is interested in how nutty I can be when it comes to birthday party prep, then this blog (The Making Of Tom’s Party) is for you. You know, in case you want to make yourself sick over a party.
In the meantime, here is a recap of the party as told to you by your favorite (totally crazy) blogger friend.
Did I mention we grew a tree on our table for the occasion? In reality, a little dogwood fell in our backyard (Thank God! I mean…sorry tree) so Kev chopped off the top, put it on our table and covered the top with Hobby Lobby greenery. (I promise I didn’t even nudge that tree. It fell on its own!)
I like to make little children think gnomes live in our fallen dogwood. Oh, and we had lots of food! Including acorns made of Hershey’s kisses with miniature Sandies cookies “glued” on top with icing. Don’t you wish those fell out of trees?
And he also got this — an old Kleenex box filled with cheap toilet paper from my mom and dad. You know…so he could pull it all out. To say he LOVED IT! would be a total understatement. He LOVED IT LOVED IT!! For the record, my parents also bought him that Radio Flyer car as a back up. They let him keep both.
Oh, and we also had a photo booth! Well…not a real one, but a makeshift one. I will confess that I wasn’t as good as taking pictures of everyone as I planned. But my sister was! Thank goodness for little sisters.
All in all, I think our little bug had a wonderful and totally exhausting birthday! He. Was. Tired toward the end.
Happy Birthday to my sweet, wonderful, cuddly, happy, laughing, silly child!
