The Park Is The New Bar.

My friend, Victoria, and I have been frequenting an awesome park in between our two houses with our kiddos once a week for the past couple weeks.

It’s been so nice to have a regularly scheduled playdate, and it’s been super fun catching up with Victoria and watching Tom play with Maxine.

We’ve all loved it.

And a funny thing has happened each time we’ve gone to this particular park.

We’ve “picked up” another mom.

Specifically, at the swings.

The first time we ever went to the park and were swinging our little ones, we met a very nice mom and her 1-year-old daughter. We spent the rest of our time there together, exchanged numbers and promised to meet up again soon.

The next week, V. and I went back to the park (new mom friend couldn’t make it) and we met another mom and her 9-month-old daughter. Again, at the swings. And again we exchanged numbers and promised to get together again soon.

After that second time, Victoria commented to me that we were picking up moms at the swings like we used to pick up boys at the bar.

Specifically she said, “The park is the new bar.”

And then we both sighed.

My, how times have changed.

Although I will say that picking up moms has been way more fun than picking up boys.

And that should give you some insight into my before-I-met-Kevin dates.

(Summed up: Not. Good.)

Really, I think it’s Tom that’s picking up the mom’s daughters.

He is a playa.

You realize that Tom is setting the standard for all guys that our daughters will date in the future. I pity all the other boys out there.

Also thanks for my calling cards. Now I feel like a professional SAHM!

I must add a story to tell you how much fun Kate and I had picking up boys in bars back in the day. One time a particularly annoying boy was talking to Kate and she interrupted to turn to me and say, “Hey! Do you want to go to the bathroom with me because I’m going to throw up!”

    Good solid exit.
