I know I officially announced I was having another baby awhile back, but that’s probably the last you’ve heard of it.
I’m still having her and everything.
I’ve just been busy.
(I haven’t forgotten!)
When I was pregnant with Tom, it was an all-consuming venture.
I was immediately careful about what I ate.
I religiously took my prenatal vitamins every day.
I wouldn’t touch a DROP of a caffeinated beverage.
I never took a shower that was too hot.
I never lifted anything too heavy.
I registered for gifts and planned his nursery and made sure he had every single thing he could possibly need the moment he graced us with his presence.
But this time?
Well…not so much.
I’m still careful about what I eat, and I do still take my vitamins every day — but I’ve had caffeine. And a hot shower. And I lift a 30-pound toddler multiple times a day. And I’ve pretty much prepared absolutely nothing for her.
Now that the holidays are over — I’m gearing up.
Baby (girl) step, by baby (girl) step.
Now I’m ready to start thinking about baby girl.
I’m ready to get her room ready.
I’m ready to buy her a cute hat and little onesie.
I’m ready to buy her her first board book — just for her.
I’m ready to buy her a little wooden toy that’s adorable. And pink.
I’m ready to start thinking about her being here.
But all this readiness didn’t really start until this weekend.
Hopefully, that’s okay with her.
I mean, it’s not like she’s been ready all this time either, right?
We’ve still got 11 weeks to go before she’s ready, I hope.
I really, really hope.
Because I want her to make a 100% healthy entrance into the world.
And I still have a lot of nursery decorating to do.
(Okay, I’ll maybe do some more to the room. I’ll keep you posted.)
