As I mentioned previously, we went to a Fourth of July party at our friends’ house.
They had so many fun things set up for the kids — a bouncy house, a pool, a water slide — it was like mini-Disney.
One of the things Tom really warmed up to this time was the bouncy house.
He jumped and wanted to get in whenever other kids were in there.
He loved seeing two slightly older boys jump around and fall and wrestle each other.
He didn’t want to be involved, mind you, he just wanted to be really, really close to the action.
So, of course, during one of the wrestling adventures, one of the boys, Luke, fell on Tom and they bopped heads.
I comforted him and everything was fine and he went on about his day.
But then two days later, Tom started talking about it again.
“I bopped heads, Mama,” he said to me. “I bopped heads in the bouncy house.”
Me: “Yes, I know. You and Luke bopped heads, but it was an accident and it’s all better now.”
*Three hours later*
Tom: “I bopped heads in bouncy house.”
Me: “Yes, you and Luke bopped heads, but it’s all better! It’s okay now.”
*Two hours later*
Tom: “I bopped heads with Anakin.”
Me: “What? No, you bopped heads with Luke…
Me (laughing): “Oh, did you bop heads with Anakin Skywalker? Not Luke?”
Tom: “Yes. I bopped heads with Anakin.”
So there you have it.
All this time I thought Luke and Tom bopped heads, but it was really Anakin Skywalker all along.
Luckily, Jedis are really strong, so I think they are both already healed.
You know…because the force is with them.
