All The Other Jekyll Stuff.

The beach was a blast.

But the great thing about Jekyll Island is — everything there is amazing.

One of my most favorite things about the island is that you can ride your bike anywhere.

Anywhere.

It’s not that big, and you can get to all the important spots in no time.

One of the first days on our bike, Tom and I saw a huge bird carrying a huge stick.

And then we saw it fly to the top of a phone tower where it was building the biggest nest ever!

I cannot believe I didn’t get a picture of it.

But the point is — it’s awesome to be able to ride your bike to get ice cream and then see a huge nest building bird on your way home.

It’s the best.

And that’s how Jekyll is for me — just great things everywhere!

So here’s a rundown of everything else we did — that wasn’t the beach!

We visited the Georgia Sea Turtle Museum which was amazingly great.  The kids even got to watch a turtle getting a little treatment, which they thought was so cool.  Such a blast!  (And the kids still remember that turtle on the left — her name was Glory.)

We listened to the ocean.

We ate popsicles with the cousins!

We fed the deer that came to our backyard every night.

Alice fed the deer too, but she really liked to have PawPaw carry her from window to window to check them all out.

We got close to the REALLY high tide.

Tom matched Uncle Adam!

We went to the water park, Summer Waves. Tom LOVED it!  It was awesome, and perfectly suited for us!  Tom rode this ride with us so much, the lifeguard knew his name!  We lucked out and got cheap tickets through one of those deal websites before we arrived, and that’s what really pushed us to even go. I’m so glad we did!!!  Both kids had a great time.  (And so did the parents, Grandma, aunt, uncle and cousins!)

This silly sailor girl had so much fun in the toddler area.  But her most favorite spot?  The volleyball court.  Which she called “BIG SANDBOX!”

This gross, creepy Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle ice cream was a dream come true for Tom. Seriously!

Alice had so much fun in the pool this time!  She started jumping in!  Another little fish, just like her big brother.

They have a sweets shop in the Millonaire’s Village.  We visited it often.

This is probably my favorite picture in the history of ever.

We climbed trees while waiting for lunch!

We had fun on the playground!

One night our parents took just Rachel and I out for a fancy dinner, while the boys hung out with all the kids.  It was amazing!!  (And Kevin and Adam had a huge crab leg lunch in return and sent me gross pictures of it.  I hate already-eaten-food pictures!!!  Gross!)

IMG_2673
This isn’t the bike we used to travel around the island all week, believe it or not. But we did rent this one for an hour one day, and it was awesome!

Cuties in a bike basket.

We toured some fancy homes.  By staying outside with our kids during the actual tour parts.  Ha!

The kids played putt-putt for the first time!

And we had a wonderful time.

Now, don’t you want to come with us next time?  And don’t you want next time to be now?

Me too.
